Further funding to assist bushfire-affected landholders
The NSW Government earlier this year announced they are providing further funding to assist bushfire-affected landholders through the ‘Supporting our Neighbours’ project.
Private landholders who share a boundary with public land and were impacted by the Northern and Southern fires of late 2019 and early 2020, are eligible to receive a one-off grant payment of up to $5,000/kilometre to contribute to the replacement of damaged boundary fences.
Landholders are encouraged to use this as an opportunity to upgrade their fencing bordering public lands and use fire resilient materials where possible, and support local community services and engage their assistance.
For the purpose of this grant, public land includes:
· National Parks
· Forestry Corporation Land
· Traveling stock reserves
· Crown reserves, tenured roads and leases
· Roads managed by Roads and Maritime Services or Local Government
Landholders who have already repaired or replaced their boundary fencing bordering public lands since the 2019/20 bushfire season are also eligible to apply, as grants can be issued retrospectively to cover these costs.
Applications opened 12th April 2020, with final funds to be allocated no later than June 30 2021, and all boundary fencing must be completed no later than 31 December 2021.
